Join as as we take a trip back in time to the ancient maya civilization on our famous Xunantunich maya site excursion.

As we venture west of Belize to the  rainforest of the Cayo District, we come across a maya city of utmost  archeological importance to Belize.

Xunantunich is home to the largest maya structure found in Belize, known as el Castillo. This famous structure is 130 ft and overlooks the beautiful Mopan River of the Cayo District.

 

Some of the most detailed and intricate sculptures have also been unearthed at this grand maya site.

Your adventure starts when you meet your certified guide at our suggested location. Next it’s a comfortable drive west to mountainous districts of Cayo.

 

Based on the suggested location it should be approximately a 1.5 hour drive to the  Xunantunich maya site.

We will arrive to the Mopan river where our site adventure begins by crossing the river in a manual hand cranked ferry.

As per regulation,we will exit the vehicle for the short 2 minute ferry crossing.

Unlike other famous maya sites in Belize, Xunantunich is a very easily accessible site excursion.

 

The Temple is located to top of a mountain overlooking the Cayo District.
